I am traveling to Naples FL this winter and while waiting for my charts I need a bit of quick info. I am planning on staying at the Brookside marina. but I have been going over odds and ends and notice a bridge, like I said I have charts coming but would like to know if anyone knows what is the Vert Clearence is on the 5th Street Bridge.

I think it's around 9 to 10 feet depending on the tide, but I can get a better number next week. How big is your boat? The boats at Brookside are all pretty small, rarely over 20 ft. There's a West Marine store right next door if you need anything ask for Liza!

I'm told figure 9' clearance, and the water is shallow. Here's a pic of Brookside:
Re: Information on Naples FL

Thank you for the info. I really hate trying to arrange things long distance. My problem with the bridge is that I have conflicting info. One chart said "6" feet of Vert CL, another said "14" of vert Cl. I am running in a 27 foot Cruiser and do not feel comfortable with anything less than 12 feet (Charted) I have been doing web searches for marina's in the Naples area and only came up with a hand full, from previous visits to the area there has to be more that 6 or 8 in town itself.

can anyone give me a list.

Thanks

At the rate marinas are going out of business in FL (sold to condo developers rather than dealing with the regulatory beaurocracy), I'm not at all surprised you are finding fewer than in times past.

I had heard rumors to the same, but not as extensive as it appears. I was hoping to find out enough about Naples Harbor to be able to pick a marina for the winter, but I suspect I may have to moore at the city marina. which is not al that bad, just a bit more expensive than I was hoping.

Do you have a Garmin GPS? If so, get the blue chart for SW Florida and all the marinas are listed on the chip. Just point the cursor on Naples and you'll get the name, address, phone, and amenities for all of them.

For the city marina, better make your reservations NOW. It is swamped in the winter. There are lots of spots close to the coast where you could drop your anchor for free.

There are Some Alternatives to docking at the above mentioned.. Many residents along Royal Harbor and Port Royal,do NOT use their Docks..IN fact, two years ago when I had my 23 CC. I docked off of 4th st. SOuth in Aqualane/Pt. Royal for Only 216/Mo. $9.00/ft. I dont think Brookside or Naples Marina would do the Same,,Although Naples Marina has kept Prices right around 8.50/Ft. for Years..The 41 Bridge you ask about is Only 9.7 to 10.5 clearance at High water. It is a little tight for a 27' should be OK/ Keep in touch, been boating here in Naples for 17yrs. Hope that helped. Bill D>
