Hi guys,
Glad to be back after selling the big Roamer and hunting for a smaller cruiser.
I found and bought a nearly pristine 1986 Bayliner 2850 Contessa Command Bridge. The previous owner was a maintenance freak and I get the benefit of it. She has a bull$hit seeking missile launcher on the flybridge for Bayliner bashers. :D
Seriously, the boat is a great one and I look forward to personalizing it. Also I am moving to Jacksonville in a couple of weeks to live aboard the boat for a few months to a year while hunting a new job after 30 years in the general contracting business in Atlanta.
Anybody hiring? :)
I am the forward scout for the wife and I....and I will enjoy living on the boat.
Any good fishing on the St. Johns River?

Congrats on the new vessel, Capt Bob. You're planning a move a bit too far north for me to be of any help. But Labor day, I too, will be retiring a 30year career with the City of Fort Myers.
One the upside, the building trades are exploding down here in my neck of the state, and understand that this trend is prettymuch statewide.
Get used to mosquitos.
The summers are incredably hot, so make sure your vessel has a good A/C unit.
The winters are why everyone winters here. You will experiance why many folks endure the brutal summers.
:D

I hate to tell you this, but be prepared to face some extremely sorry wage scales, and lousey benefits. This is due to an influx of imported labor ( who mostly don't speak english), and being bilingual is one foot in the employment door.

Regradless--It sounds like a great plan overall, and I wish you sucess. I just wanted to give you my advice, 'cause it be cheap.
If you ever get down to SW Florida, look me up.

Spinner...I will have some pictures up soon and thanks for the congrats.

Mellow...the big Roamer is on it's way to the UK on the deck of a ship. Seems that the Brits like big steel boats!

12Footer...I'm already used to the skeeters. Here in Ga we have the daytime biters and the nighttime biters. Congrats on your retirement and thanks for the good info. As far as being bilingual...I'm a hetrosexual and plan to stay that way no matter how good the job offer is!

crab bait...yep, I've always been a working man and don't know much else..except I love boats...big ones and little ones! Thanks for the well wishes.

Re: I'm back with a new to me boat

LOL thanks, Bob. I needed a good laugh this mornin to get over this funk I'm in.
We have every variety of skeeter down here, from salt marsh mini-strafers, to Louisianna light-wing gunships, to Glades gallonippers. The salt masrh marauders are the worst..Tiny for a mosquito, they leave an itch that alcohol wont remove...Unless you drink mass-quanities.

Ga is sure a nice place tho, and don't quite understand the desire to move down here. I've been all over Georgia, and I think my favorite spot is Clark Hill Lake..Truely God's country.
My Dad used to live in Dearing, then in Hartwell.
I loved Hartwell also. Nice people, and beutifull lakes.
