Look for a tag on the transom mount.

Check out my signiture link. I started with the exact same boat. I dare say mine might be a little faster ;) Wish I had that galvanized trailer though.

Could you tell me what the hell the big hose in the bow is for?? It looks like a dryer vent hose. Come on now, we all know that 50 horse is faster than 85 anyday! BTW, I've got your Photobucket alblum hotlinked in my faves to use it as a guide. I put it there about a week ago before I picked mine up to give me some incentive. Did you scrape/prime your's before the paint went on? What brand spraypaint did you use?

Well it is indeed a dryer vent hose. It was there when I got the boat and I just left it. It sits in the bilge and connects to the vent on the deck. I don't have a built in gas tank so it is probably pointless. My band-aid colored paint (as my wife called it) was in good shape so I just roughed it up and primed it with Rustoleum primer. I used all Rustoleum products in rattle cans. I would NOT recommend this. I ended up buying so much paint I probably could have had it sprayed at Maaco or something for the same money. Spray paint isn't cheap! Plus my finish isn't glossy at all. Many people on this board have had great success with various brush on/rolled products. I did (after the fact) notice that Lowes carries a Rustoleum paint in a can specifically for marine use. That's what I would use if I ever did it again.

Hi, my name is Troy I live in Washington State. I am also a new owner of a 1967 16' starcraft boat. How long is your boat? It looks a lot cleaner and put together than mine. I would like to exchange information and photos, I am interested in photos of the motor mount and the back end of the boat in general as I have a pile of parts I'm not sure where they go. Thank you in advance- Troy P.S. I am an aircraft mechanic, all I do is work structures/ sheetmetal, I'm not sure how boats differ from aircraft today- but I will soon. The way I see it a rivet is a rivet.

It's a 16' like yours. I'll try to get some pics for you. Did you want them emailed to you, or just posted here?

I have that same boat too...mine's a '71 and its in much rougher shape. I'm in the process of getting it ready to fish this year. Is sanded and ready to paint and i just replaced the transom. In the next week i'm hoping to reinstall the stringers and decking....when i get a chance i'll post a few picks....also i picked up an evinrude 50 for mine, might not go as good as an 85, but it'll work

Sure looks a *bunch* like my '65 Nassau.. except for the windshield, but 67 had that extra bar/brace past the wraparound glass. Does the transom area only have a 1 inch or so drop spanning across the whole backside? There was a 67 Nassau up for sale recently at eb** website if you are interested, just search completed auctions. Tons of pics on it.
