I have a 1996 Regal valanti 182SE with a 4.3L volvo penta engine. I went to check the ignition timing yesterday and it was way outside of the furthest BTDC mark of 12° (around 20° estimated). I have read some postings on this forum suggesting for my ignition I may need to unplug some wires on the distributor to set the timing (initial setting) and may need a (volvo part 885163-3) to do so. Anyway, what is the corrct timing setting and how do I go about doing this? I believe I have a delco EST ignition setup similar to my car which requires me to bypass the EST by unpluging a wire to set the timing. Any info would be helpful.<br /><br />Thanks
