ignition coil

does a coil go bad ,or just go out. will that make it backfire threw the carb?the boat starts<br />but it s hard to keep it running , new points plugs. and rebuilt the carb!now what?

the only coil i ever saw backfire was when i fired it back at the dork who said it was a marine coil..other than that, a coil shouldn't cause a backfire........timing could

is the reed valve in the middle of the carb? i said before in a few posts back the gas was around two years old. i ran around a half out .i put new in.<br />it seemed to be getting better.then one day it was really running bad. never backfired<br />before till now!put all new gaskets on the carb also.the shop i took it to a few months ago put cap,plugs and points on it.i got this boat a few months ago.
