Ideal boat for Minnesota to Carabean trip

What size and type of boat do you think would be the ideal boat for a trip down the Mississippi to the Gulf and out to sea to the Caribbean Islands? Lets pretend cost matters and oh yea lets pretend it's a live on boat year round for 2 people and it is going to make this trip and back every year. What would you want and why.

Are we thinking 6 figures or half that, or 1/4 that?

A 30 footer gets small with two people living abourd. I would think mid thirties at a minimum, espeicially out to the Caribean.<br /><br />I, personally, would look into a Trawler. I'm not doing this anytime soon, Just thinking. I would think for something to live on and take out to sea $50,000 would be cheap. I thought around 40 foot would be tolarable space wise.
