Hi all,

guys what should i do? I bought an 1993 22 outrage boston whaler. It has a nice whalerdrive bracket installed for my 2X optimax 175 which i just bought. The boat runs terrible. it is porposing all the time (bounce, bounce, and bounce). At full throttle it does a sudden dangerous shift to port side. I handled the shift by trimming the port engine up just a little. I installed a stingray hydrofoils with torque stabilizer. the boat did balance a bit, but far away from being a good ride. Is purchasing trim tabs will be the right solution? and how can i install them on a whalerdrive?

thank you in advance

Sean

Re: i need your help

Howdy, Sean.

Welcome to iboats. :)

I don't recall that boat being rated for 350HP. I may be wrong or you may be severely overpowered. Too much push or too much transom weight can cause uncurable porpoising.

Porpoising is always caused by the power trying to raise the bow, running out of push and dropping the bow.

Cures for porpoising are correct power, rigging, balance and trim. My guess is that you are short on at least one of those.

Thank you JB,

thank you so much for your reply, you guys have a great forum.
When i boat the boat it had 2x 225 merc's, and i decided to cut the power down. if over power the case, may be i should replace it with a single 300 hp or 2x 150 hp. because i read some where that 22 WD was designed and rated to carry 850-lbs of twin 150'
