For some folks a boat is just a " tool to get a job done " it seems.----Anything goes wrong , you buy a new one.------In my area folks drive new $80,000 pickups on roads covered with salt.----A wee bit of ice is not a problem for that boat.-----It all depends on your budget and outlook on things.

I've been dealing with a "mobile mechanic" for 25 or more years. He has a house and dock on the Erie Canal. He will come to your house to work on your boat, or to your marina, or at your launch ramp if your marina won't allow repairs. He'll pull it our with his huge articulating trailer.

Early in the season the canal is full of ice bergs that come in from the Niagara River. Late Fall, when the water flow slows down the canal freezes.

he is always the first to get his 40' Searay to his dock, and the last to pull it out. I've seen him dodge ice bergs and skim thin ice many a time.

I would buy new trucks and put a plow on and start hitting customers driveways. People thought I was nutz. Didn't have to worry about breaking down like a wore out plow truck...
