Howdy, what model is my Starcraft?

iboats.com forum newbie here, posting from west Texas (land of dry lakes and flooding).

I've got a 1985 Starcraft 16-foot bowrider, with an OMC 2.5 liter. We've had it a couple of years, and apart from the ridiculous OMC water pump, it's been a good boat to own/operate.

First question: Any idea what model it is? I tried looking online for old brochures, pics, etc... the best guess I came up with is that it's an 'American' How would I confirm that?

Second: It's got a soft spot in the floor, right in the back corner just ahead of the flotation block beside the engine. Can I just pullup the carpet and add a couple of layers of fiberglass cloth, or is there something deeper I should be concerned about?

Post some pics of the boat and the hull id. Someone on this board will be able to id it. As far as the soft spot goes, the spot is soft because the wood underneath the fiberglass is rotten. Rot will spread. You may already have rotten stringers, transom, etc already. A good spot to post questions about the floor is the boat restoration forum.

Thanks for the reply, I'll get some pics tomorrow when we go back to the lake, and post the hull id as well. Regarding the floor, looks like I get to get dirty again - not that I mind at all, it's kinda fun actually.
