Last Fall we bought a 24-1/2 foot cruiser and there is a bow mounted anchor bracket with rollers. I also have an "Anchor Tensioner" that keeps anchor chain tight when the anchor is not in use. When I am under power will my fluke anchor just be hanging from the bow or should it be secured on the top deck? It seems like if the anchor is not on the deck the flukes will just swing back and forth and ding up the bow. Anybody able to explain or show a picture of proper anchor storage in this situation? Our last boat wasn't big enough to have a bow mounted anchor so this is new to me!<br />Thanks!

anchor should be stored on deck. yes, anchor will damage your hull if left hanging from the bow pulpit. some pulpits are designed the allow the anchor to be stored on deck, but resting within the pulpit. these are fine as long as the chain is tight. others don't have the storage ability and you should then store your anchor elsewhere. my boat has a pulpit, but also a separate storage locker on deck. anchor stays there when not in use and i then pull it out and run through the rollers when anchoring. good luck-
