Local folks in the North Woods refer to these little "Pooters" as {no account or trash fish}.
They are fun to catch along with the LB. plus Rock Bass we encounter during rest periods.

Helps keep us limbered up between the Walleye and Gator Eye visits. Figure you Bassers out there would like to guess the poundage on these fins.
(I just Hookem and Cookem}.

Although I think these put up a nice tug it still doesn't compare with sledge hit of a p....d off Muskie..

Ya got to be careful with them old fish scales.
A few years back I was realign on my old trusty
de-liar to give us the weight on salmon & halibut
and the heavier fish. All them fish we caught for
years were out seven pounds light, on the old
de-liar. Its now resting comfortabley on the
bottom of the Seymour Narrows.

ebb, you are not supposed to include the weight of the frying pan, in your calculations, unless its your own catch.

Honestly about 2# is what it looks like. Keeping in mind that northern bass weigh a little more for thier length you may convince me it went 3 but it could not be more.

BTW it looks like it could be the same fish in each photo but the angle and frypan are not.

Pretty good shot Shooter. One went just under four and the other a little over three.
Ebb...Pretty quick on the retreat/did ya think your wife was behind ya for a second..
RedRider...I'll have to remember the skillett thing. What made you think of that one unless you have been there and done that.....
Flahthead... matter of fact dog and bass taste about the same. Now attempt to filet a Muskie and some fingers may come up missing.
PF....shame on you ....and I thought Ebb was trying to put the gaff on me....
NoSleep...I bet you would cheat on cards if you could. No way do I believe you deep sixing the scales...Probably used them when competing with friends.....

Other threads getting a little to deep so I thought to bring a little humor....

Re: How to make a FIN look BIG

I still stand by my original guess. Most stove burner plates are something like maybe 12" across and the average large frypan is only 14" across so to me those fish may even go 2 1/2 #. Now this is factoring on the length of an average 2# bass here. I usually disagree with the guessed weights on those fishing shows done/from up north as I feel there is no way a fish that small/short can weigh that much. But given that I have been told they are longer for the same weight here versus one from up north your weight may just be on the money. Then agian I have friends from Wisconsin that think a 2# crappie is a monster and 8# bass is a trophy so I guess that there is something in the drinking water or something making all you northerners crazy :p Just kidding with you. It is realy hard to judge the weight of a fish from a picture especially considering that they are sort of bent from being in a cooler which may be making them look shorter than they realy are. :D
