the bar stool seat in the Duracraft, did not stand up to the weather. so the porch swing, and seats are out. decided back to back would work better. used the original full seat base for support, added a base for the back section, which will give storage, all this is out of one sheet of 3/4 exterior plywood. i will give it one coat of poly, to seal it. the upholster, with 2 inch foam, and white vinyl. found a great price on foam.. "http://www.buyfoam.com/Default.aspx" other places wanted $200. i got it for $60.00 here.

Yea are you just going to use regular seats and put them "back to back"? In other words they wont lay down right? I made some back to backs before and they had a box under them that opened up for storage. It was pretty cool. I think i have pics of them in my shareaproject page on the link below. Im not sure if i talked about how they worked but it was nice having that storage under there. I put all kinds of **** up under there to keep the deck cleared off so you had room to fight fish when we would hook up to that big sand shark or try to fight that huge skate.

Re: how to build back to back seats

I just looked at my shareaproject page and there is 3 pretty good pics of the seats that i made. They are pretty crappy but they worked and the storage under there was great. Im in the middle of rebuilding the boat now and i dont think that im going to go back to that style of a seating arangement. I think that im going to have pedistal seating as i want to free up as much room on the deck as i can possibly get. Also i dont plan on having that manny people on the boat as i had planed before. So i think that i will make the max amount of people 3 becides myself. Before i thought i would be able to get like 4 or 5 other people becides myself and there just is not that much room on this boat for that manny people. Anyways that looks like pretty solid construction that you got going on there thash.

had to deal with exiting situation, and not enough room to lay out the seats, this also moves more weight forward for easier plane.

this was the old set up i had, to much stern weight.

it definately sits better, was able to move the seat backs away from the dash, which is more comfortable, also balances the load much better. i would have like to have cream colored vinyl, but i had 28 feet of 80" wide vinyl i bought last year for $29.00. now i have 20 feet. total cost less than $100.00.
