I looked at all the pictures of the Irakis.I did not see open wounds or bruises.
I just wonder how far we should go with these guys if pressuring them can produce information that can save the lives of hostages or soldiers.
Your opinion please.

Re: How much should one be allowed to squeeze?

a very tuff question sir, and one that needs to
be clearly defined to those doing the interrogations.
I am not qualified to answer I'm afraid... not
even sure how far I would go to save the life of
one of our men or women. I do know I would not
do any sadistic acts, but can't say I wouldn't
get physical.
perhaps it would be best if the Iraqi police/
military did this (while we watched)?

Man that is a hard question to answer.
If it meant saving the lives of our men and women in the service, I don't know how far anyone would go. No one does until they get in that situation.

All of this was so much easier before digital cameras, picture phones, and the internet. A dose of censorship and all was well.

Just in, breaking news.
American man said to have had his head cut off.

"Video on Islamic militant Web site appears to show beheading of American - The video showed five men standing over a bound man who identified himself as an American from Philadelphia. After reading a statement, the men pulled the man to his side and cut off his head with a large knife. They said the death was revenge for the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal.
"

Where is the outrage? I am so po'd right now! Yeah, those guys in Abu Gharib were "humiliated", but they are still #$%^@& alive. This is total BS, we cannot fight a PC war, take the frigging gloves off and show us the "shock and awe", I am sick of this game

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4953015/

Re: How much should one be allowed to squeeze?

The Geneva Convention, International law and precedents set in Nurenburg and Manila should be enough.

It appears that the techniques used by whomever in Iraq and Afghanistan are identical to those used by N. Korea and China in Korea (neither signed the Geneva Convention). They were believed to be very effective.

Interrogation of prisoners or detainees always has the potential of saving lives and shortening conflict. The guys in Geneva knew that, the Judges in Nurenburg knew it, The US Supreme Court knew it when they denied Gen'l Yama****a's appeal, etc, etc.

Cruel and/or degrading treatment is forbidden. Period. The guys in charge, as well as the guys who did it, are accountable.

Re: How much should one be allowed to squeeze?

So far nothing I have seen has shocked me, nor had me disgusted.

Remember, just because these guys were in custody, doesnt mean they were being nice. Perhaps they deserved these things to keep them in line, so we wouldnt have to shoot them later, when they tried to escape.

Also, everybody forgets that we Americans are human too. We make mistakes, the difference is that, we punish those that abuse power.

And, whoever took those pictures must be the dumbest person on earth, or working for the other side, or working for the democrats.

Ken

I agree, interrogations of prisoners has the potential to save American lives. However, these photos have people outraged against the U.S. Has anybody stopped to think how many American lives these photos have/will cost?

Re: How much should one be allowed to squeeze?

I no longer see any reason why we need to be civil to any of them. These clowns have been active for many decades. Now they are using the stupid here in the U.S. to undermine everything we are trying to do. I say we follow the old golden rule. "While in Rome...."

If I were in the White House, troups would be redeployed into Iraq. I would have GIs swarming every crack like **** roaches. This is rediculous. If we allow this to go un-answered the president might as well pull troups out of Iraq now. At least we will know that us true U.S. citizens are on our own, and we can take appropriate actions.

This is disgusting. I am very interested in what the President will do.

Re: How much should one be allowed to squeeze?

I keep coming back to the same images when I see the pictures of the Iraqi detainees being "abused". Those images are of the Iraqi people gleefully jumping around at the burning, dragging and hanging the four contractors at the bridge.

Why is it that we have to be civil, PC, etc, etc, etc, when any time our people are captured they are treated like a piece of dung. I am tired of being in conflicts/wars (fighting) where in some cases there doesn't seem to be a will to win. Our wars come in years, Israel's wars comes in days.

You can not fight a nice war, do like they do, use any means necessary to get the info to win and don't drag it out.

I'll stop or I might get carried away.

Re: How much should one be allowed to squeeze?

I must say that as this has been dragging on, my opinion has started to change slightly.
We must hold ourselves above the actions of this enemy, BUT , if we can save some American lives by applying a little pressure, then we need to do just that!

If these son-of-a-b#%&*^es are beheading American soldiers, then its time to lay waste to these bas!ards
