Re: How Long should Resin cure before sanding?
Nathan, I am not familiar with the term woven mat, however without any fiberglass at all, spreading a gallon over a 3 x 4 foot area will result in a uniform coating of resin approximately 1/8 inch thick.
Fiberglass material most commonly comes in 3 types, random strand mat, cloth, and woven roving. Random strand mat has no weave at all, and as a result has less strength than either cloth or roving. Fiberglass cloth and woven roving are both woven fabric, the roving being a much heavier weave. Kind of like comparing canvas to heavy burlap.
Depending on the type and weight of the material used, one gallon of resin will wet out from 32 to 64 square feet of fiberglass.
With regard to sanding, if you attempt to sand too soon upon resin cure, you will just clog up your sandpaper real fast. But this will become evident rather quickly. Hope this helps. Good luck
