Breeding, good breeding and proper diet I suspect. Sorry I could not resist that.

A rooster tail may look "cool" but in actuality it is not an effective way to run the boat. Pro racers claim it reduces efficiency. You want to keep your drive trimmed for the type of boating you are doing. The "higher" up you run your trim in theory the faster you will go (and bounce), but the optimum is to have all the thrust pushing the boat forward not up or down.

Just a word of caution. If you like speed be prepared for anything. I was in a BASS fishing when my partner "stuffed" the bass boat at 65 mph. Dam near killed us but it was a valuable speed lesson in a 4' chop. We constanly cruised at 65 without the rooster tail.

Oh a water jet (way out of the Frank Purdue chicken catagory

) well water jets don't do rooster tails. However if you trim it up it will throw water. The actual rooster tail is the water coming off the top of the prop (very tip) when it is riding high in the water. Normally it is bouncing off the trim plate.
I bet the 460 pushes that boat right along at about 60. The water juts tend to rob allot of power from the engine based on efficiency.
