What size wire should I use for a Minn-cota 55# thrust if the battery and trolling motor are 10 to 12 feet apart and how much further can I use this size wire before going to the next size bigger? Thanks

To answer your question you need to first know what the amperage draw is for the motor. Then we or you can figure the size wire need for the length of run you have.

I don't know the amp's on this motor. Where might I find this or can anyone help with what the draw might be? This is using a 12 volt battery. Thank

A 55# Minnkota draws 50 amps max. That maximum however is with stalled rotor so even at full speed the motor does not draw that much. However, at that distance, 6 gauge wire and a 50 amp breaker is fine.
