I have a '84 Merc 7.5 that runs great but tends to foul the plugs. Would hotter plugs eliminate this and if so, does anyone know of some brands and numbers. Standard plugs for this model is a Champion L77JC4 or NGK B9HS-10. Fuel is mixed 50:1 with quicksilver oil. Thank you.

Re: hotter plugs ?

I've used both the Champion and NGK plugs mentioned above with the same results.

Re: hotter plugs ?

If the motor seems to start well when cold
I would lean toward a fuel problem to much gas.
Be sure the choke is opening all the way.And the
float is working correctly.
I wouldnt change to hotter plugs it could cause
serious damage if plugs are too hot.
