Re: Hondon & Maui Girl, Still on the THREAD!
I am an operator, not a wrench, so please forgive me if my ideas take you backwards. It sounds like your experienced and understand your systems.

This is just some stuff I've seen work.

I'm sure you've tried opening your throttle, maybe to about half way, with the shifter in nuetral and cranking it. Just be ready to throttle back if it goes.

I've never done this one myself, but I've seen my Harley Mechanic spray short spurts of something (carb cleaner or starter fluid perhaps) around the intake manifold gasket. If its sucking air it will pick up this fuel and try to run. Get more info before attempting that one please.

Lightly tapeing the side of the carb (to release a stuck float)

Make sure exaust ports are clear.

If possible, watch your fuel filter while running, look for bubbles. Hold a flashlight behind the bowl, if its glass or plastic.

make sure your fuel jets are clear.

Question: when it dies does it sputter like its starving for fuel, or can you smell gas, indicating flooding.
Some motors have a high pressure fuel pump for starting and a mechanical fuel pump for running. I would read my manual and look for anything that could fail.
If your distibuter cap and plug wires are suspect at all i would replace them.
Testing the voltage on ignition from both sides of the ignition switch is a good idea. You'll figure it out. I've seen this a few times in my career, and it almost always turns out to be an air leak in the fuel intake. They can be a ***** to find too.
One more idea, if your motor has a brain, turn everything off, diconect the batteries, unplug the brain and replug it. Bill Gates would like that one.
