Re: Hitting a sand bank at 15 knots...With a glass full of Bourbon
I knew a man many years ago who kept a speedboat in a well known west Auckland boatyard. He launched at Te Atatu and powered up well before the bridge. This incredible bloke then started to rave on about his brand new colour sounder and to prove how good it was turned it on. Imagine his surprise when it showed no water under the boat! He struck the machine a couple of times thinking there was something wrong and then looked at my other mate and myself holding on for dear life. Just then the boat hit the sandbar off the enterance to Te Atatu channel. He was thrown out of the boat and suffered a few cuts and bruises. We were generally unhurt other than our pride. Needless to say we don't ride with this chap anymore!!<br />Ross
