Long story short I’m trying to save a 1958 Herters. Took the top off to get to the hull. prior owner stepped through causing a big tear in the fiberglass. There’s also a crack in the hull near the transom that was badly repaired. This is my first boat project. I’ve have old vettes so I’ve done fiberglass. I want to be sure I’m on the right track. The hole/crack is in a tricky area. I made a jig to contour the hull. My plan is to sandwich the jig and screw together to bring the hull back into shape. I plan on layering CSM and 1708 with vinyl ester resin on the inside and doing half the repair. Let cure. Undue the jig. Move it over and do the other half. Once cured IMG_5248.jpeggo over the repair with another layer. Flip the hull over and do the outside. The alternative I was thinking was to cut out the damaged section and try to form the repair in the correct contour. I was worried about trying to make the contour look right. Hopefully my photos will post. Please let me know if I’m headed in the right direction. Thanks
