Help with new boater 90hp evinrude

I am a brand new boater when comes to boat engines I have a 1995 90 horsepower Evinrude I have no idea what type of stroke it is I just wanted some advice am I supposed to be mixing oil in with my fuel? I just don't know where to start I want to make sure I do everything properly hopefully someone who knows about this engine can brief me on my maintenance I need to be conducting, I'm just about through my first tank can someone brief me my MUST DOS for this engine and maintenance.

Ayuh,...... Gettin' advice, starts with identifying exactly what you've got,......

I suggest you examine the motor more closely, 'n at least come up with it's serial number,......

I'll move this to the Johnson outboard forum,.....

may i suggest you buy a factory service manuel for your motor was the best money i spent on my motor :joyous:

It will be a 2 stroke.----But I believe there are 2 different models of 90 hp motors.-----They came with automatic oil injection systems from the factory.----No telling if that system is in service or has been bypassed.------Stop , get a manual , ask questions before you start this motor and launch this boat / motor.----Mistakes will be expensive.

Manual for sure. Then you can ask questions a lot more easily with references. 1990's 90HP motors are generally pretty bulletproof with minimal maintenance and common sense. Our previous boats 1985 140hp is still going strong. As reported regularly by it's current owner.
