Help with my vessel view please!

Hello I need some help please. So the most important question I have is can I hook up vessel view mobile WITHOUT using a terminator resistor cap on the harness? By using it I mean just turning the key on and checking the stats and not running it.

Anyways so I just picked up this boat with an 05 OptiMax 135hp. Test drove the boat and motor runs great yada yada. I got vessel view mobile because I wanted to see the stats before I bought it the boat but I could not find the plug on the engine. But I took a risk and bought it and later at home I did see this. On the motor I see this cable with a plug that says “Termination resistor on this end” and I followed that cable which is blue and it goes to the helm to power this little digital device called “Mercury smartcraft”

So I have multiple questions and I can’t seem to find answers anywhere. What is this device on the helm? Can I unplug that plug that says “terminator resistor on this end” and plug my vessel view harness into the engine side of the plug and then just leave the other end of the vessel view harness with no terminator on it? Or do I have to go buy a terminator to put on the end of the vessel view harness to view the motors stats? Will I ruin anything if there’s no terminator on it? Please help thanks in advance.

The “little digital device” is the Smartcraft display to interface with the motor.

Everything you want should be available on that display unless something is wrong with the interface.
