Hell second boat first time winterizing this way, so where the thermostat is...left side I poured coolant into until it come out the thermostat, then did the right side for exhaust manifold side...and I had coolant leaking out from the back of boat...the 2 drains plugs are plugged back in...not sure why coolant would come out the rear above the bulge area drain...is this overflow or an issue?

If you filled the exhaust manifold with AF that’s normal there are idle relief openings on the bottom of the transom mount where water exits when the engine is running. Now if it came out the bilge drain plug hole that might just be spillage.

First question should have been, did you drain all the water out of the engine and manifold first?

Achris is right. As I have just learned this week it doesnt really matter where the anti freeze goes, if all the water is out first, because air doesnt freeze . The anti-freeze is unneccesary if there is no water left.

Yes and no. The reason you need to drain all the water before filling with AF (if that's what floats your boat), is so the entire block is actually filled with AF. If you leave the block full, and just suck it up with the drive impeller (ie, through the flusher attachment), most of it goes out the exhaust without going into the block, because the thermostat needs to be fully open for water to actually get displaced, and on the flushers, the thermostat barely opens. Certainly not enough to displace all the water in the block!

We (mechanics/technicians) have a name for those AF flusher attachment devices. We call them 'block busters'....

Achris, how about draining the block via blue drain plugs, then fill via thermostat hose then running on the flusher with AF? Just asking! (ive drained and left empty block as always)

As long as you drain first (including poking the holes to ensure they're clear), and remove and empty the big hose on the water pump, and the power steering oil cooler, you can fill it however and with whatever you like...
