I have a 1979 Evinrude 85hp 85999R it has a buggered up head on the port side. The one listed for it is 0324528, will part# 0326504 fit it? I ordered a replacement off Fleabay and as usual it is not the right one, it was listed as the proper part# but is for a 140 which would be #0322864.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Head swap

The "504" is for a 3.5 in bore and should fit, if it will not bolt up you have the 3.375 bore engine.

Re: Head swap

As Fastbullet indicated, it should fit. OMC standardized all V4 blocks at 99.6 cubic inches in 1979. That head was first used on the 81 90/115 engines. Your 79 85 uses the same size pistons as all the 90/115/140.

Re: Head swap

Thanks guys, I purchaced a used one that was listed as the 528 # but was off a 140, and the relief cuts in the head were completly different and would not clear the piston, so I will order the 504.
Thanks again
Glen
