Tonight in trivia, I asked "What breed of dog was Sam, the “World’s Ugliest Dog”? ( formerly Rubberfog’s avatar ) ". The correct answer is Hairless Chines Crested.

I admitted to owning one of these, but Mojo looks nothing like Sam because he is "normal", Several asked what "normal" for a hairless chinese crested looked like. Here is your answer. This is a show quality.

Too bad it's been burned so badly. What caused that, a gasoline tanker explosion, house fire, 18-wheeler wheels, passenger jet engine intake, ???

Poor little animal.

I bet Mojo ain't got a clue as to his breeding. What he does know is that he's got some great folks letting him live with them.

That is a good looking dog you got there sangerwaker.... :)

I want to get one of the hairless cats, sphinx... until I saw the price, over $1k.. the breed has only been around about 30 years.

I wouldn't want a hair'd animal in my house with allergies and such.

Actually, I gotta give my wife credit for the hound. She saw an AKC show and fell in love with the breed. I was hesitant, cuz they are kinda weird lookin. After having him for a couple of years now, I have to say he is a really cool dog. By far the most affectionate animal I have ever seen. If you sit down to watch TV, he is in your lap, guaranteed. If you like smaller dogs, I highly recommend the breed. A little over-protective, but that's the only negative so far IMO.

Noel, Check out Cornish Rex cats. Cheaper than sphinx, but nearly hairless. They are good for folks with allergies. My in-laws have two.

Noel - It’s doable with dogs. Some k9s are both hypo-allergenic and don’t shed. Jack Russell terriers, poodles, and Portuguese Water Dogs are a few that come to mind. We have a PWD, 3 years old, lives in the house, never seen a hair from him, tho I suppose there should be some that naturally fall out like with people.

Yup. He loves to camp and ride in the boat. :) Besides, there's no way in you know where my wife would let him be anywhere else.

My buddy tried that once, watch yourself.

First time, the cat 'loved' it, so he said, sat there and purred thru it.

Second time, about 30 seconds in, buddy got kitty fangs gum-deep in his forearm. And when cats bite they don't let go, they hang on. Or so he says.

No more haircuts for kitty.
