I'm waiting for my resin to set up, so I thought I would drop in and start a fight... :)

This may have been posted before, so apoligies in advance.

What are your thoughts of gun control? Pro, Con ?

I challenge ANYONE on the face of this planet to convince me that a gun is dangerous. ANYONE.

Does a gun have a brain? Can a gun get up on its own and harm someone or some thing? Can a gun purposely discharge itself?

I can't beleive how some people say that guns are truly dangerous. They try to brainwash you and our children into believing this.

When are the gun haters going to realize that it's the PERSON pulling the actual trigger, and NOT the gun?
When are they going to figure out that if you take guns away from law abiding people, you are just putting them in the hands of the criminal?

Enforce the laws we have. Don't make any more.

I still get a chuckly out of the 10 round clip limit. Like this is really going to thwart evil.
Hahahah!

Do your part and buy a gun. Tell the gun haters to leave the country if they don't like guns.

So go ahead gun-haters..CONVINCE ME !

H.

Oh yes respirator is definatley used!
Wouldn't be right without one. Besides, as a safety committee member at my employer for several years, I kinda got used to playin it safe.

NASTY STUFF that resin!

What do I really think? I think we should get back to the very basics of our constitution and what it stands for.

Yes, bag the bad guys for sure and get rid of the lawyers (and law makers) who keep them out of jail!

Think about this:

Not many years ago BEFORE we had so many gun laws, GUNS were easily accessable to just about everyone who wanted them, INCLUDING children.

Now with that in mind, how many accidents during that time involved guns? Not many

Now today, you have all sorts of gun laws, gun locks, what-have-you. Everytime you turn around, someone is getting shot.

So what happened? Doesn't look like these 'laws' helped very much. In fact, I think they made it worse, but that's my opinion.

I'm just curious if anyone here wants to ban guns. I thought it would bring a good 'ol fashioned "Ford vs. Chevy" brawl to the forum.

Here's one:

What makes an assault rifle dangerous?

C'mon gun banners..Answer that and you'll win the boobie prize: An all expense one-way paid trip to Iraq!

LOL!

H.

MaryAnn without a doubt... I'd take Mrs Howell before Ginger :p

By the way, the Ginger/Maryann debate is too easy... the one ya have to ask yourself is:
Roseanne or Rosie O'Donnell, if you had to, that is :D

Homerr: I think you'd be hard pressed to find too many folks around here to argue your point with... Most of us are just "Good ol' Boys"...

Moose: That's disgusting.... You're a very sick man to bring up those two... :p

Gotta go now.. I think I'm gonna yack...

Re: Gun control challenge...

Sorry Homerr, I didn't mean to hijack the discussion. I have just been too serious lately. I agree that people kill people. The point is people by their very nature are uncontrollable and sometimes don't or can't have control over themselves. As for an assault rifle, yes the person owning one kills people or hangs it on the wall. I can see two side to the story. Should we make it safer for our police by getting rid of them? What purpose do they serve? I understand the consititution and the rights it gives us but what purpose do assault rifles serve? They are made to kill one thing, people. Where's the home defense argument? Can people get them illegally? Yes. Are you going to protect yourself from an assault rifle with an assault rifle in your home? Unlikely.

Homerr, I'm with you man. Only thing is, when we try to argue it as if in a brawl, we well only perpetuate the "evil" ones' ideals. Take a look at JB's post "Is security worth giving up some freedoms?" I, and many others, posted our arguements on the topic there. Also, check out Kennesaw, Georgia and Morton Grove, Illinois. :D

James

Re: Gun control challenge...

Scoop,

The only problem I have with them specifying a particular type of gun is that once there is a precedent, it will be easier to get at all guns. If I want a pistol and can't get one, guess what. I would saw the stock and barrel off of a rifle. Now I got my pistol. This would be reason enough for them to come after rifles.

James

Re: Gun control challenge...

James I do see your point. I am just arguing for arguing sake. Does it **** me off when someone kills a bunch of people with an assault rifle or a cop with a vest on because the criminal can purchase military guns and ammo? It sure does, but the reason that the constitution is written that way is so we can all keep and bear arms as a balance of power. I see many side to the story and don't have the answer. Would I live any other place? No. I wouldn't mind living on a nice lake though. Debate and discussing both side of the issue is the best way to help understand and coalesce the issues in my own head.
My own personal view is freedom as long as it does not impinge on other people's reasonable rights. Yes, there are huge holes in that. Who decides reasonable?
Should someone get money because they spilled hot coffee in their lap or because they were dumb enough to pick up their lawn mower and try to cut their hedge with it (True story)? No. I was discussing this with a lawyer friend of mine. Ok, before you flame me he is a patent attorney and one of the smartest people I have ever met. He said the argument for the coffee was that McD's coffee was significantly hotter than the other fast food places. I still say that is garbage. Who sets the laws on how hot coffee should be to avoid lawsuits? Did McD's purposefully make it hotter so someone would get burnt? Nobody can put all warnings on everything. What was the jury of our peers thinking on this one? Heck, what were they thinking on the OJ thing. Man, my leather shoes don't fit after I don't wear them for a month. If I put rubber gloves on my feet, there is not way I would get into them. All of these things seem basic common sense to us, but our peers don't think so. I don't know how we can legislate this. I don't know the answer.

Scoop,

I see your point as well. ;) Also, to add to the OJ thing, He wore latex gloves as well. He also could have twisted the glove and just made it "look" like it didn't fit. Leather will shrink over time as you said. That is one of many problems we have here. The lack of justice and all the frivilous lawsuits really get on my nerves.  What about this idiot who is sueing because "they made me fat." Give me a break. They didn't force it down his throat. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else either. This is the best country on the face of this earth, in my opinion. We do have our problems and should try to solve them to the best of our abilities. :)

James

Now that I've awakened the forum.....

:)

Well, one might say that Assualt riffles are made to kill people. I guess I'd have to agree, but they still have no right to take them away.

Darn fun rifles to shoot if you ask me.

Go ahead and run squirrel! LOL

H.

GUN CONTROL IS NOT ABOUT CONTROLING GUNS.
GUNS DONT NEED CONTROLS. GUN CONTROL IS ABOUT CONTROLING PEOPLE. SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE GUNS NEED CONTROLING.
