Re: Great Day of Fishing!!!!!!!!

that is a sweet pic set....I have never been trolling for freshwater fish, all we do is bass fish down here. I do troll for speckled trout in the winter time in the bay however.... seeing that gets me fired up.....time to fish. :)

Re: Great Day of Fishing!!!!!!!!

Well usually Sutton spoons do the trick for me. But that day everybody said that green was the color on the radio. I tried it and all variations of it but no luck. So I put one black, one white, one silver, and one green. Got a bite on the solid white one in 5 min. Pull everything else in and put all white and caught all these beauties on them. It pays to try something different. :D Plan On going Sat and Sun so I'll have more pictures of the trips posted mon. :D

Re: Great Day of Fishing!!!!!!!!

Gonna have to get you to take me out there one day and show me the ropes. I hear it is a beautiful lake to fish with scenery that would more than make up for a fishless day. I always thought that you anchored over the river chanel and dropped minnows down to catch the trout there I had no idea they trolled for them as well. Anyway, one of these days either with or without someone showing me the ropes I am gonna haul my boat up there and fish.

Hey Peterfishbuster anytime your ready you just let me know. Be more than happy to get someone hooked on trolling. And showing them the ropes is the best way of doing it. How do you think I got hooked. A friend of mine took me out once We had just gotten all four lines down in the water and Bam Bam Bam Bam four fish all at the same time within 10 min of fishing. I was hooked there after. Let me know when and I'll make room. I usuall7y fish the weekends only since I work weekdays. So let me know I'll be more than happy to have you come along.
I always thought about starting a guide service and charging $100 a head (thats what most of them charge!) Wouldn't that be nice, money in my pocket, fish in the boat and a view to die for! Sounds like Heaven. :D

Hey Trollhole, what kind of rodholders do you have on your downriggers? They seem pretty cool and removeable as well. Trolling is a great way to fish! It is my favorite way to go in my boat... Relaxing and rewarding :D I'm also looking to get the same spoons that you use, they aren't sold in Albuquerque, but I found them on a cool fishing web-site. Thanks!!

Well the ones mounted on the downriggers came with them. I bought them from Cabelas. I think you can buy them separately. The other ones I bought at walmart. The black ones are nice but I had to drill a 1inch hole in the boat which is not good. But they work great. The little aluminum triangles infront of the riggers are the ones I like cause they use little screws and are cheap also got those at walmart. :D

Re: Great Day of Fishing!!!!!!!!

Oh by the way. Went fishing Sat. Only caught three. Two under 15" (legal limit) and one nice one. But since I forgot the net at home it shook loose trying to get it in the boat. Weather was good 55 degrees with light winds. Until 12:00 when all hell broke loose. Gust up to 35mph 3 to 4 foot swells. Had a hard time keeping the boat straight even with both engines going. Packed it in. Got really wet going back to the landing. Decided Sunday was best spent home with the girlfriend staying warm. :D

Note: Fishing tournamet comming up on the 14th Decided to enter it. I'll try to take some pics of all the boats loaded up for trolling. Should be fun! :D

Re: Great Day of Fishing!!!!!!!!

Nice fish TH! i want to fish that lake one day! i love trout, but the ones i catch in the stream look like minnows compared to those... :)

do you catch 'em thru the whole winter? ya caught any big brookies up there? i am still collecting goodies for stripers in lanier, but don't have downriggers, just leadcore line, which should be fine around here, for 15-30ft. are you usually on down, like 40-60ft?

if you don't quit your weekday job and start guiding, i'd like to go with you sometime ;)

btw, i took an old friend and his 2 boys out on chickamauga saturday, and it was pretty brutal too, with temp droppin, whitecapping. i normally would've packed it in, but we were bundled up and the boys had a tentheater behind the windshield, so we stayed til dusk. too windy to troll my usual path, so we didn't catch the crappie.
-but we ended up chowing on the filets of those stripers and yellow perch(all small) :D

Re: Great Day of Fishing!!!!!!!!

Tell you what if it can wait till after New Years I should be there. We have stuff going on every weekend from now till then with sometimes 3 things in one day. Tell you how bad it is people want us in Downtown Charleston, Summerville and 2 places in Columbia on the 7th and that's just for starters. Some we can bow out of but others are work/social/family obligations that we would offend too many people we know if we did not show up for a while at least. And we still need to find time to ride and see the lights as well as walk the Christmas lights at the Zoo.
