Greasing Prop Shaft 1998 225 Yamaha

hello<br />On the 98 225 there is a grease fitting under the prop for the prop shaft.<br />I have greased it every year for the last 6 yrs.<br />Today the grease came out in 4 places around the outer ring that would come off if you removed the 2 bolts that are accessible when the prop is off.<br />Is that where it is supposed to vent from. It never came out around that ring before. Or was I not putting enough to it in the past to make it vent there?<br />MY manual is on the way, but I don't have it yet............so I need to ask???<br />Thanx........<br />Bruce

That grease fitting behind the prop is to grease the bearing carrier. There is a small grove made into the carrier to grease the area between the carrier and case. It is put there for easier removal of the bearing carrier. Half of those fitting ever work.
