good all round volvo/chrysler workshop manual for gas i/o boats?

Hi there, im slowly familiarizing myself with various boat engine and more familiar with the mercruisers. Some boats have volvo with whacky looking parts - what models are most popular say form 80-96? Pre efi old school points etc..

lots of manuals online but not sure what the most popular chevy conversion models were?

Also for chrysler and OMC? any recommendations? Mostly ill be doing outdrive bellows, tune ups and some troubleshooting regarding pumps etc..

Stick with mercruiser line, chrysler ,bmw, yamaha have long gone out of business

hi yes i know but i do some side work and a few chaps come with volvo marinized chevies - be nice to have some reference for the bellows jobs and odd looking pumps on the crank nose -

what were the most popular models in the 80s?

and the DIY stickies and short cuts that DonS posted many years ago on this site. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engin...ives/366271-vp Don was one of the worlds best Volvo Tech's and he knew all the shortcuts that would get you on the water faster with less cost, like only removing the upper gear box when doing bellows vs the whole drive. (its all in the stickies)

FYI - thats the raw water pump on the crank nose. much easier and faster to service than having to drop the lower unit. (where do you think Mercruiser got the idea from for the Bravo drive)

ps - dont think of tearing a VP drive apart without the factory manual

thanks dan! yes i read dons story - such a sad loss! bunch of his linnks are dead though or have been removed. Ill def check out his stickies esp on the VP - interesting about the pump! smart a$$ swedes haha!

Yeah..... It pretty much started with Carl Kiekhaefer Everyone pretty much started at Mercury.

If Kiekhaefer and wanted to "push" it, he could have probably "owned" the sterndrive (and could have stopped the Volvo "Aquamatic" in its tracks) until the patents ran out
