Getting a new to me Starcraft

Ok, my dad is giving me a boat. Here is what he told me about the boat:
1973 Starcraft, 16 foot fiberglass, 140hp Mercruiser 6 cyl I/O. He doesn't know the model.

He had the engine rebuilt last year and put new upholstery. He said it ran great until it started filling up with water. Transom is shot, and I'm betting the keel and stringers to boot.

Any idea on the model? Has anyone had to do a restoration similar? Has anyone ever tried seacast or is it not worth the trouble and better off just tearing it out and re-glassing?

If the Motor and O/D are ok and the seats are new you can always take them out and look for a Aluminum boat that needs the same. and have a nice boat with new running gear.
