Have a 1956 Chris Craft with the Hercules 6 cyl flathead. It has a 12 volt GENERATOR which is overcharging (15v). Anyone familiar with this problem? Thanks

welcome aboard

15 volts is just slightly over-charging. 14.6 volts is about normal. did you verify with a volt meter, or are you looking at the 60 year old gauge on the dash?

what is the battery voltage? what is the excite voltage at the regulator?

With voltmeter. At 1000 rpm, !3v. 1500 14v. 2000 15v. No regulator, but has "cut-out" box on generator; 1 wire from generator and 1 wire to ampmeter. I think its the cut-out box problem. Ohmeter shows open circuit
