Folks,

So based up here in Canada where it seems like gelcoat is few and far between to find at a decent price. I can buy some off of Amazon for $69.95/gallon or $280.00/gallon for total boat. I think based on the 16ft hull at 18-22mil I will need approx one gallon. Has anyone heard of the following manufacturer. TERRIBLE reviews but my thought is the users might not have mixed the catalyst properly or allowed for the correct humidity levels and/or stirred the product appropriately.

Fiberglass Warehouse Gel Coat – 1 Gallon White Gelcoat (Waxed) with 2 oz MEKP Catalyst, Easy Application Modified Polyester Resin – Durable and Safe – Ideal for Repairs, Composite Coating

I use unwaxed gel, but with duratec added for cure and gloss.

looking at the reviews, maybe the wax content in the product is insufficient.
Ive never used that product, but you usually get what u pay for. I have used total boat and its held up fine so far.

Waxed gel is a finishing coat product, usually used as the 1st coat in a mold.

If you are in Ontario , Try Composites Canada. They are very affordable and their products are good. They are in the Toronto area.
