I have a 73 Kona flatbottom. The original gel coat is in good solid condition, but it is badly oxidized. I have heard that there are better products out there for repainting your boat than a new gel coat. Does anybody have any suggestions?
A couple of years ago I purchased a fibreglass 5.2mtr Cuddy cabin with similar state of gelcoat. After seeking advice I lightly sanded the hull and resprayed it with a two pack urethane primer followed by matching two pack paint. I have been very happy with the result and the paint is very hard setting and has good gloss features. hope this can be of assistance. Terryc
