My dealer finally got the gasket set for my 1990 40 hp Johnson. (now waiting on rebore and new pistons). Anyway, the set appeared to have at least twice the number of gaskets needed to rebuild the power head. Is this normal, do they put extras in for different models? It even had three diff exhaust manifold gaskets. Any ideas? Just curious, thanks

Re: Gasket set

They'll usually use one kit to cover several models and have the gaskets for all. It's sometimes confusing when you're doing the job yourself. For me anyway; I always think I'm leaving something off. The old "leftover part" syndrome.

Re: Gasket set

Ga. Dave - I order a set and there was one missing. I had to order it at another dealer and fight with Sierra for the money. I say fight it was more like hey you shorted me a gasket I bought it locally it was 11.00 pay up. They did in about 2 weeks. So be happy with the extras.<br />steve
