I have a 14' 1969 glastron. I was wondering if I could put a gas tank up front. The bow has no wood just fiberglass would I still be able to put one up there like a portable 6 gal. Would running a gas hose so far away from the engine be good.

Re: gas tank

You should be fine. I have a friend who keeps his fuel tank in the bow on a 14' runabout.

I've done this. No Prob. You can put the gas tank as far foward as you want.

Depending on your boat, you may not like it up there. At least you may have to secure it from bouncing around.

I was going to put a 12 gal. permanent tank up there. Thats the smallest I could find. Is it going to slow me down any, considering Im going from a 6gal in the back to a 12 gal up front? Will it make the tip to heavy and make it dive? I was going to put it on 3/4 plywood and strap it to it so it doesnt flop all over.

It will for sure make it handle a bit different but maybe in a good way I would try it out up there first and see how it goes when full then if all checks out okay go ahead and mount permanent. Is the bow closed or is it more like a fishing boat? If its closed you will have to think about how to fill it.

Re: gas tank

It is closed bow and real low to the water. There is a kit that I can get that will allow me to fill it thru the bow. Im hoping if I do this not only will I have more gas ,but get on plane faster when pulling a skier and not lose any topend speed.

Thanks, I was kinda wondering if I will loose speed. My top end speed is 33mph with the trim all the way up. If I put in a 12gal in the bow. Will I loose speed, Or will it balance things out. I have a 1969 14' glastron with a 1992 3cyl 40 yamaha
