Fuel Filter

Hi, Can any one tell me where the fuel filter is on a 1985 merc 75hp ? I have a built in tank. I don't see an inline filter anywhere? Thanks

If it's a square fuel pump it should have a inline just before the carbs, if it's a triangle shaped pump it's a screen under the cap on the pump.

I guess i don't know where the fuel pump is. CAn anyone point me to a pic? Thanks

Thanks, I think it is triagular. the link you gave me(thanks)- showed an inline on both types- r u saying it has a screen inside the triagle pump cap? BTW - Some one told me to check the uptake from the tank. I located it but the fitting seems small for any filter to be at the end of it. Is it just a tube going to the bottom of the tank? Thanks. I love this forum

The screen is item 10 shown with the triangle pump and it does show a secondary filter that I would install if the engine were mine, it certainly would not hurt anything to have the extra protection.
