We went fishing last night on Irondequoit Bay and after the regular few sunfish we tried a bit deeper(19 feet)just on the edge hoping for walleye.Instead we got what we call sheepshead around here. The amazing thing was the amount and the size.14 sheepshead weighing in between 11 and 15 pounds each!!All of this in under an hour.Is it common for these fish to school,or is this just a one time freaky thing?

That would be about an hour south and east of rochester(Awasco lake).I firmly believe that anything this far down in the chain of Great Lakes gets all the poison from Lake Superior and whatever other lakes are on the way,so I release every fish caught in or near Lake Ontario.

Re: Fresh Water Drum.(Sheepshead)

Today I found the answer to my question. I went down to the same spot and again the bite was on.Then I saw a piece of rope floating with a big bobber attached to it.I pulled on the rope and out came a 5 gallon bucket, with the lid full of small holes.I opened the bucket and it was full of cooked potatoes ,rice, cabbage and broccoli. It seems that somebody just has a feeding station there for improved fishing succes.<br />That sort of takes the fun out of it for me.
