fresh/ saltwater

i know that Freshwater outboards cannot be run in Saltwater, but can a Saltwater outboard be run in Freshwater:confused:

Of course they can, and I only know of one "freshwater only" outboards, that Briggs&Stratton 4 stroke!...might be some others?

What Robert said. You just need to flush them thoroughly after each salt exposure. I don't remember if I ever used a salt water outboard in salt water.

actually, you don't have to flush them, but it's not a bad idea.

i wish i had more opportunity to use my motors in any water! salt , fresh, even distilled! (when i do get out, its 90% salt water useage, and i always flush em, always thought it was crucial.)

i just bought some muffs for the boat so i can flush the engine when i get done running it in saltwater
