Found my "GEM" after diligent searching

Well after spending many many hours on the road over the corse of a week looking at boats that were heavily misrepresented, blatantly lied about or sold out from under me, I found my "gem". I had found the boat on craigslist located 2 hours from me, and talked to the guy pretty much all day. He reminded me of myself and how picky/ particular I am about every detail. He described every detail about the boat, which basically had zero issues. It's a 1991 celebrity 200BR, 21 feet long, 8.5ft beam, 5.7L mercruiser with alpha one out drive. After talking all day I knew I had to go check this boat out. I grabbed my cash and headed out. The boat is in amazing shape, its really clean, no signs of water anywhere. All the seats are in amazing shape with no sun baking and only a single 2" cut in the back of a rear seat. The engine was super clean with no rust anywhere. All the gauges work, all the switches work, steering was smooth, throttle smooth, all the fluids looked good. The engine started and ran good even after sitting for 4 months in storage. The boat sat in a slip for a while without a lift so there is scale and some electrolysis going on, on the lower unit but that can be cleaned and such. Also has a 14x19 stainless prop. The boat didnt smell like mildew or have any signs that it sat wet covered up. The ONLY problem we really had is with the garbage surge brake hitch that didnt want to comply and that was the only real thing I could use to bargain down the price. It was listed at $6,000. We made a deal at $5,400. I feel like I got a ton of boat for the money. I cannot wait to get it on the water!

Wow! That's a Sharp looking boat, just look at that raked bow! Celebrity's have been on the leading edge with their European down sloped transom design for a few years! I love the lines! I had an 86' Celebrity 22' cuddy I really liked, built like a tank, with a racing bottom hull design. It could handle most any water condition. Good Luck with it!

Thanks guys, Ill post more pics, and probably a video of it running. Im just suprised by the excellent condition its in. All the dash vinyl and seats are soft and pliable.. Nothing is cooked, cracked or ripped (other than that cut).. The windshield is nice and solid and I always check the gap at close of the windshield to see if the consoles have sagged... its so minimal its not even worth mentioning. I also got all the dock bumpers, bow snap on cover, "camper" snap on cover for the rear. extra tall bimini top, and a really crappy all weather cover that is being replaced. They always shedded the boat, or had it on a lift at the slip with a conopy and cover on it.

Good for you voodoo! I found my gem earlier this year, it had always been in dry stack or enclosed garage, sure makes a difference.

That's a 55mph boat! Plus, looking, & handling good, doing that! Of course that is if it has the 4bbl 5.7 motor?
I'm so jealous of you, and Macklin! :D

Its a 4bbl 5.7 motor. The q-jet was spotless. Throttle plates spotless. Intake runners looked clean as new when I peeked down in there.. Thanks for all the kind words. I went through some hassle before finding it. I've been envious of the bigger faster boats on our lake ever since I've had my 1990 bayliner Capri 90hp outboard... Great boat. Planes in 2 seconds lol... Tops out at 35mph on smooth water. Its been a fun boat for the 4 years I've owned it. The time felt right to get a bigger faster boat. I spent countless hours hunting craigslist. When I seen this boat in person I just had to get it. :).

voodoo, click on my name to get to my profile, then open the Media tab, I have some pics there. It is a 1980 Glastron SSV167 with original 90HP Mariner. Floor and transom are solid. Runs just as good as new, ends up being a great boat, have had it out 4 times and went thru 2 tanks of gas and so far so good :)

Here is a teaser or three...

I hope you have as good of luck with yours as I have had so far :thumb:

I know with that sleek hull design, from the side it's gonna look like it's moving when standing still! Trim that puppy out, and it should easily hit 50-55mph.

Man, I really like that convertible top and the camper extension, very nice!

I am downsizing as most of the family that boated is not around and most of the time it is just me that wants to go out (I am 60). I had been looking for 3 years before I found the Glastron. I still have my bigger one but this little one is my new fave. Later will probably sell the big one and go to a slipped Pontoon (but always have the Glastron!).

good work, one suggestion however. No family on first splash. I know of what I speak.
