So I rush in from fishing due to CG just issuing a storm warning. A group of younger people sitting on one of the docks with their boat on trailer parked on ramp 5 ft from water. (4 ramps) I ask "you pulling out or putting in?". One of the guys answers "nah, we just pulled a stupid human trick and forgot the plug - Someone went home to get it." I said you may want to get in your vehicles - there's a heck of a storm coming." I get the boat out in less than 5 minutes & tie her down. The sky opens up. 1st time I ever heard of a SHT saving someone a bunch of issues.

Yeah uh, the weather forecasters here have a 1 in 10 record of getting the weather right!

Were in the middle of a severe drought and the weather started out Wednesday with scattered showers over the weekend, 4 inches of rain later....

I have a better chance watching the skies but then again we don't have big lakes like you guys do so I can understand the feeling of having a heads up, hopefully your forecasters are better then ours!

i use www.noaa.gov for all of my forecasts, PERIOD!!!!!!!

Isn't that special. All forecasts come from NOAA/NWS--the same information. And all services are equally reliable and unreliable.

It's what you do with the information that matters, and that comes from experience. Around here, wind direction alone will tell you about waves, humidity, rain and temps. I'm sure it's different elsewhere. That's why I like intellicast.com because it gives wind info, even hourly, and daily over 10 days. Of course after a day or so it's all models.
