well I here we go again...

this is the symptom: it gargles at 3500 rpms then clears up and then sometimes runs rough at 4300

I have done the following:
installed new see threw filter no bubbles clear
installed fuel pump diaphragm
changed all connection
changed fuel lines
primer bulb
timing at 28 degree at static
i have linked and sinked

any ideas anyone. i know it something stupid. the engine did run previously at 4900 rpms and all of a sudden it stopped.

because i don't have the time to do everything here is my suspicions at least someone to tell me were should i looks first.:

redo the carbs i did play with the floats and bent them back to spec did not replace the needles with polimer tip did looked in good shape

spark plug boot a small crack but it still making contact.

or maybe cdi or coils.

"Gargles"? Just something to deal with, my "86 gargles, I call it stutters, from 2500 rpms till it stops on the way to cruising speed. Many questions over many years led me to the conclusion, that's just the way it is. Nature of the beast is how FrankA put it. Running rough at 4300 rpms leads to a different problem. Take a buddy next time and do a WOT timing adjust.

Personally, I would troubleshoot only when the symptom is present. If it gargles at 3500 let it gargle while you try to isolate if it is electrical, mechanical or fuel related. Bring with you a timing light and then ran it without the cowling until it starts to gargle and then check for sparks constancy using the timing light. this should take a while since you are basically looking for intermittent misfiring. Then try spraying fuel mix directly into each carb and see if the gargle goes away or if it changes in tune. Intermittent problems like this is usually electrically related rather than mechanically. You can change the plug boot for cheap. And while doing that you can also buy some shrink tubes and re-do the plug cables.

that is what I suspect also an electrical problem.

if so is it more like the cdi spark plug or coil?

The only sure way to find out is to troubleshoot. I always use my timing light and watch the constancy of the strobe on each plug wire. Any indication of misfire will be indicated by the strobe and then start from there by switching CDI's, coils, etc. If the misfiring doesn't follow with the switched part, then it is most likely trigger or stator related.
