Howdy, machonorma. The popular "earmuffs" adaptor will work with any outboard. Hook a hose to it, slip it on the lower end so that the big rubber cups cover the water intakes, turn on the water and fire her up. In a few seconds your engine has been flushed. The flushing adaptor can be found at any marine outlet, Wal Mart, K Mart, Outdoor World, etc.,etc.
Good luck.
JB

JB, doesn't the thermostat have to open to acquire a full flush of the motor which would take quite longe than a few seconds? Just curious if I am wasting time flushing for 20-30 minutes waiting for it to heat up and cycle open a couple times  .

Dear JB,
I have recently acquired a 1981 Johnson 25 Seahorse and am contemplating the purchase of a set the flushing muffs that you refer to. I have looked long and hard at the lowerend of this outboard and the only feasible water inlet I can see consists of three or four 7mm holes. Is that it? It doesn't look large enough...Can you help?
Best wishes - Paul -
Devonshire, England

Use a large plastic garbage can on the smaller motors - run the water a couple of inches above the cavitation plate and flush for 5+ minutes. That will give the motor time to heat up and clean out the engine properly.
The flushing devices are fine, but too much racket. Leave the motor down after you flush so that it will drain. Your neighbors will thank you for the quiet approach.

to Machonorma

6R69 was a Johnson 1969 6HP Model Code - Great Motor.
There is a rectangularly-shaped flush device that will fit, (but I still recommend the plastic garbage can).
PS: I still have the 1965 6HP Johnson my father left me - runs perfectly, starts every time, and has never left me stranded. I carry it for a kicker on my larger boat-also great for duck hunting and trolling around the estuaries.

SNIPER.....20-30 minutes is a waste of time and fuel. I have never flushed any motor of mine for more than 5-7 minutes and I have had the same motor on one of my boats for 20 yrs..
