Hello All,
I was wondering if anying has done any fishing in Lower Michigan. I just got a bass boat and am looking for places to fish. I currently have it on White Lake in Oakland County and have tried fishing it with no luck so far. It is still early, I am just happy to be out there. If there are any people out there with experience in Lower Michigan, please let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Aaron

Hey Aaron, probably the best areas around us is Anchor Bay, Harsens Island, Lake St.Clair. It really depends what all you want to catch.

I am looking for mostly bass and walleye. I will venture out to Lake St. Clair sometime this season on a calm day. My bass boat is not going to be able to handle the weather.

Thanks.

St.Clair river is generally good for Walleye, all around Harsens Island, the shore lines of the channels especially, are good for Bass. With the Bass you have to be careful because the season doesn't open on until June 15. It is also deep enough to get some walleye moving through.

DaleT,

If you don't mind driving a couple of hours, I would suggest Sanford and Wixom Lakes. Both are near Midland. The fishing pressure is not nearly as heavy as lakes in the lower 1/3.

djohns19, I haven't fished up that way in years. Mainly I always rented a boat or went with my Grandparents. Now that I have my own boat I'll have to try those lakes out. Thanks.

Aaron, if your boat is on the small side for some good bass fishing try the canals on Harsens Isl. there are some big ones back in there. Becareful though, it's shallow, and very easy to get lost in the maze.

Thanks Dale,

Once it gets a to be bass season, I'm sure I will be out there. Is there a place on the web that would have a map of that area? The boat is a 19' BassCat, bass boat. Do you think that is shallow enough?

Thanks.

Aaron

As far as if it's shallow enough it vary greatly on those canals, any where for 1 foot to 5 in some places as well the early indications are the water should be up about 6 inches this year, keep yer fingers crossed. You might be able to find a map on Harsensisland.com. I'm not positive on that though. In any event good luck.
