Looks like I am leaving WV for a week or two for Chincoteague. Any one tell me about the fishing there? I am debating on pulling my boat. I will probably have only the evenings and maybe Sunday to fish. What I have read online so far, it seems to be pretty good flounder fishing. I just need someone to give me a good reason to pull the boat there!

Re: Fishing Chincoteague, Virginia

A good freind of mine is a Guide down there. Here is the fishing report he sent me Friday for this month's club newsletter

The flounder bite has slowed considerably since Memorial Day Weekend in the back bays. A few keepers have been brought in but you have to work for them and move around to a lot different spots to find them. A far cry from the bite we had this time last year where 20-30 fish were caught in less than four hours. But the good side of it is the keeper ratio is much higher. Clear water has been almost non existent with the winds we have had in June. One whole week recently had Nor'easter winds that kept the fleet at the dock. The boat ramps parking lots on theisland have seen very few boats in the past month with the exception of the MSSA Tuna-Ment weekend.

I personally can’t see dragging a boat down there to flounder fish. If you want to fish, rent a skiff from Tom’s Cove for the day. Cost you less than dragging one down there

Thanks Dingbat. I think I will leave the boat at home. We will be working from 430 am to 230 pm to beat the heat. I think I will take my rod and reels tho. As sure as I leave them I will be wishing I had em!
