Fish finder transducer........Help

Hello all..<br /> my Buddy has a humming bird 100sx or dx not sure, but the problem he his haveing is that under WOT he loses the signal and has a blank screen. this to me is not good !!! makes to be very scary going threw the river and not knowing what depth your at...Any idea,s why this is or is it normal for this model to do this...Thanks<br /><br />May Your Fish net have Big fish!!!!

Hey, Barry. the problem is almost certainly transducer mounting. The face of the 'ducer must be fully wetted to send and recieive successfully. Check angle and proximity to bottom edge of transom.<br /><br />Good luck.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . . <br />JB

I have had the same problem & JB is correct about the transducer mounting. <br />My transducer was plenty low (about 1/2" below the hull) & I still could not get a consistant signal above 1/2 throttle. I found that it was mounted directly inline with a rib that ran down the length of the hull. This causes lots of tiny air bubbles to pass under the transducer which can result in signal loss. <br /><br />I moved it over a few inches and it works ine now.<br />Good luck!

JB... just a question, I have the same depthfinder in my rig... & identical problem w/ WOT...<br /><br />Old bass fisherman friend of mine told me to epoxy this to the bottom of my boat while I was doing my installation for thru hull mounting.<br /><br />What are your thoughts on this subject...
