I am about to install a fish finder/depth gauge on my boat that is going to used by myself and my three teen age sons. My question is, Where should I get the power source from?, one of the gauges, then the fish finder would be turned off automatically when the boat is turned off. Or on the anchor light. This would require someone to make sure they turn it off when they are through.
Or does it make any difference?

Thanks in advance
Greg

most people don't leave it 'hooked' up if your
trailerin'.. or if at dock..( thieft) .. but if you's do.. it don't much matter,, the unit has an on/off switch on it..

just make it 'hot'..

Eagle/Lowrance recommends going directly to the battery to keep down interference from other equipment. With an in-line fuse close to the battery.

Gop
I wired mine to main power line from second battery. You do not want to wire to anchor light or guage or ing switch. I do not want to have to turn on light in daytime to run depth finder. I do not want to have to run main engine to be able to use while drift fishing or trolling with trolling motor. I also remove my Depth finder, GPS, Loran C, and Radio at end of day for theft and to get out of summer heat.
