excuse my ignorance, but what are fish decoys?<br />it attracts fish? <br />seen some on ebay for hundreds of $.<br />do the fish want to eat them or get romantic?<br />guess they must work or people wouldn't keep<br />making them. <br />regards,<br />M.Y.

Fish decoys where used many years ago in commercial fishing. and some times used for sports fishing.Very old decoys can fetch a lot of money. They are used to attract fish like a duck decoy attracts ducks.

I was once invited to do some elephant hunting in Kenya... Opportunity of a life time if you like tall grass hunting.<br /><br />I declined when I learned that I had been invited because they needed someone to carry the decoys.

Mellowyellow, fish decoys are used by most people who spear fish {pike ,sturgeon} thru ice. Just build yourself a big shanty. cut a big hole with your chainsaw thru the ice. Place shanty over hole. Lower decoy and wait for your target. Iv'e never done it, just read about it. If i'm going to wait for a target it has to be one wearing antlers.

Most of the fish decoys I've seen are just hand carved decorative pieces much like the hand carved duck decoys. They look to have no value at all when it comes to fishing. I've seen them for sale at few places around here. You can buy a whole stringer full for about $200. They are kinda neat. They have large ones about 20 inchs all the way down to about 6 inch.<br />------------<br />Flathead

big fun is right thay use them for spearing fish through the ice northerns musky and sturgen at the musky musem in hayward wi thay have alot of really old ones and a mock set up of useing one totaly cool place if your ever in wi it's a must go place for anyone who fishers and thay have hundreds of old outboards
