The fiberglass that supports the two hinges on my front anchor locker is seperating and wil totally break away if I do not do something fast. Does anyone have any suggestions on a product that is strong enough to repair an area that can be under high stress when the locker is flipped open? (hopefully something that will match the white hull color).
Thanks!!!

Re: fiberglass repair

A few suggestions. Look at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=west+system+fiberglass and examine the West system fiberglass products. I would bach the hinges and brace them with a strip if hardwood or plywood inside out of sight, I would also install a limiting chain or aluminum brace to reduce the stress on the cover when it is opened. Not a tough repair/modification to do and easier since you are going to catch it now.

Bob

i am not staulkin' you BOB , believe me .. again , you give good advice .. backin' with wood.. and i would definately use epoxy.. also if wood can't be used cause of some reason,, use heavy fiberglass cloth . can buy small amounts at a marine center.. double / triple the heck out of it .. soaked with epoxy.. one better if you can find some carbon fiber in lieu of the glass cloth .. now we'er talkin' bullet proof ... p.s. kevlar will work too...
