Fiberglass over paint (only small spots)

Hello everyone,
I was in the process of painting the bathroom/bed platform areas in my Bayliner 2252. It looked damn good with Interlux Brightside (one part) so I decided to paint the entire cabin (the hull only; the cap will be done using hull liner) During painting the bathroom and the bed platform, I had some overspray on the hull. I sanded and got most of the paint out. I used Lacquer thinner to clean up. Now I have paint only on the deep spots after sanding. Very small spots (pinhole & penny size here and there)

The plan?

1-I want to lay down a layer of fiberglass cloth over the hull sides inside the cabin. The importance of this step is two folds
A)It will give me a smoother surface than the woven layer I have currently.
B)I will feel less guilty about the half cup of powder that came out of sanding the hull (even though I think most of it is the old dry contact cement, but who knows)

2- Apply a filer resin (resin + Phenolic Microballoons) or Bondo for fairing.
3- Glaze(if Bondo was used) and shoot the primer.

Questions..

1- Can I fiberglass over the hull with these paint spots still on or do I need to sand them off? I am afraid if I sand them I will be reducing the thinness of my hull.
2- What is your recommendation for fairing (resin + Phenolic Microballoons) or Bondo? Or please feel free to suggest a better solution.
Thanks in advance.

I'll respond to the fiberglass cloth part... That's what I put on my deck. It's anything but smooth. I was ok with that since I was going for a non-slip surface anyway. CSM will be a lot smoother than coth, but it'll still be bumpy.

Thanks for your reply. I will compare the two in the store and use the smoother one. I am planning on using a fairing product on top anyway but the less sanding is the better for me. I hope one of the experts will shed some light on the other questions. I am planning on fiberglassing today, so, your prompt response will be of great help and appreciation.

Thanks
