Re: Evinrude Lark IV prop help please

Without knowing your present max rpm and speed and boat type it would be a crap shoot to wheather those demensions will allow your motor to perform
at its reccomended specs.Unfortunately I don't know if it will phyically fit.
That prop appears to have been worked on ,doesn't look right to me.

Thanks for the reply. I'm totally new to this so pardon my ignorance.
The measurements I give are the factory specs. But the prop for sale says 3/4 in. I have no idea if it will fit the Lark IV or not.

13 1/4 pitch is one step down from the highest. It is intended for relatively
light boat.and load. If your prop is damaged you could have it repaired at a prop shop.Cost more than 25 but it will be like new.

Re: Evinrude Lark IV prop help please

OK. It's on a 1968 Starcraft aluminum fishing boat. It's just 15 ft and the motor is a 62 Lark IV 40 hp.
Those measurements are supposed to be the standard factory prop. But what I am concerned about is the shaft diameter. The ad says it's for a 3/4" and my manual says nothing about my shaft dia. Now I could go out and remove the prop and measure, but I'm ill and don't feel like doing it right now. So I was hoping to take advantage of anothers wisdom and experience.
Thanks

Re: Evinrude Lark IV prop help please

Sorry I don't have that info I have an Evinrude Big Twin (same animal)
parts manual but all it gives is diameter and pitch no shaft size.Someone may be along with more info I don't have the 62 parts manual but have 60,61 and 63 and all the props begin with 278. the 304 number does resemble an evinrude prop related number but cotter pin begins 306,nut is 305,washer 304,prop begins 278.There must be someone here that can help with demensions or numbers.

Re: Evinrude Lark IV prop help please

Thanks for the input. I don't want to buy something that won't work, and I thought it would be nice to have a spare prop. I wish people that sell stuff on eBay would be more knowledgeable about what they are selling.
I live in SW Missouri and all of our reservoirs are rocky or stumpy.
I have no experience in boat ownership and just want to cover all my bases before I get stuck in the middle of one of these big reservoirs.

You might try a composite prop for a spare.

Couldn't tell you the price but pretty sure less than metal. You also could try the prop shops.for used props and they should know what fits.
I'm sure there are any number of sites with composite props perhaps on ebay as well.
